Scanner Kit Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 09, 2026
Scanner Kit respects and is committed to protecting your privacy. We adhere to the principle of data minimization and strive for transparency. This Privacy Policy aims to clearly explain how information is handled when you use our mobile application, which is designed for document scanning, image processing, and management.
Important Note: Scanner Kit does not require account registration to use all core functionalities. Your documents and images are, by default, securely stored locally on your device.
1. How We Operate and The Information We Collect
Scanner Kit is designed with your device at the core of data processing. We collect only the minimum information necessary to ensure the operation of specific features and the stable performance of the App.
Document and Media Information:
- Local Processing: Operations such as scanning, image optimization, cropping, applying filters, and document management are completed locally on your device. The related data does not leave your device.
- Server-Side Processing: When you use certain advanced features like specific format conversions, to achieve this conversion, the relevant files are
temporarily and securely uploaded to our secure server for processing. After processing is complete, the resulting document is sent back to your device. Both the original file and the processed file are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers. We do not store or access the content of your documents for any other purpose.
Technical Data and Performance Information:
- To diagnose crashes, fix errors, and optimize app performance, we may collect technical logs anonymously that contain no personal or document content (e.g., timestamps of app crashes, device model, operating system version, anonymous statistics on feature usage frequency).
- This information is used solely for product improvement and cannot be used to identify you or associate you with specific document content.
2. How We Use Your Information
Our purposes for processing information are strictly limited:
- To Provide Core Local Functionality: Perform scanning, image correction, and file management locally on your device.
- To Provide Specific Cloud-Processing Functions: Securely complete server-side tasks you request, such as document format conversion.
- Product Improvement: Analyze anonymous crash reports and aggregated performance data to enhance the stability and speed of the App.
- Security and Safety: Secure the App and services, and prevent abuse.
3. Sharing and Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your data. Your document content is typically shared only temporarily with our trusted, contract-bound service providers to complete the specific cloud-processing task you explicitly initiate. Additionally:
- When You Actively Share: When you use your device's system sharing function to send generated documents to other applications (e.g., email, cloud storage), the data will be subject to the privacy policy of the target application.
- To Comply with Law: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
4. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- For local data, its security relies on your device's own security measures.
- For data uploaded to servers for temporary processing, we protect it during transmission using industry-standard encryption (e.g., TLS/SSL) and delete it immediately after processing.
5. Data Storage and Retention
- Your Documents (Local): All scanned items, imported images, and final generated files are, by default, stored only locally on your device. Their retention is entirely under your control.
- Your Documents (Server): Files uploaded for format conversion are automatically deleted from our servers immediately after processing. We do not retain them.
- Technical Logs: Anonymous technical logs are retained for a necessary period for analysis, after which they are securely deleted or aggregated into anonymous summaries.
6. Your Rights and Control
You have full control over your data:
- Access and Delete Local Documents: You can access, manage, or delete all documents directly within the Scanner Kit app or via your device's file management system.
- Choice to Use Cloud Features: Whether to use server-side processing features like "Format Conversion" is entirely your decision. If you do not use these features, your documents are processed entirely locally.
- Control Over Technical Data: You can usually restrict the collection of diagnostic data by the App in your device's system settings (the specific path varies by device).
7. Third-Party Services
- Service Providers: To provide specific cloud-processing functions (e.g., format conversion), we use third-party technical services bound by strict contracts. They may only provide processing services for us and may not use your data for any other purpose.
- User-Initiated Sharing: When you send files to other apps via your device's sharing function, the privacy policy of that third-party service applies to the data it receives.
8. Permissions Required
Scanner Kit requires the following permissions to provide core functionality:
- Camera: To take photos of documents and objects for scanning.
- Photo Album/Media/File Storage Access: To import existing images from your device for editing and to save generated documents back to your device.
- Network Access: For (a) enabling cloud-processing functions like document format conversion; (b) sending anonymous crash logs to improve the App; and (c) checking for App updates. Note: You can disconnect from the network if you are not using features that require it, and all local functions will operate normally.
9. International Data Transfers
As our servers may be located outside your country/region, your data may be transferred across borders when you use cloud-processing features. We ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws through measures like encryption in transit and contractual safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) with our vendors.
10. Children's Privacy
Our App can be used by users of all ages because we do not actively collect personal identification information from children. All local processing functions do not involve information collection. If a child uses cloud-processing features, the data processing described in this Policy applies.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in functionality or legal practice. The updated policy will be posted within the App or communicated through other appropriate means, and the "Last Updated" date will be revised. We will provide more prominent notice for significant changes. We recommend that you review this Policy periodically.
